Physical and Chemical Properties of Epoxy Resin

Release time:

  Material characteristics

Epoxy resins have secondary hydroxyl groups, which can react with isocyanates, and epoxy groups. Epoxy resin as a polyol directly added to the polyurethane adhesive containing hydroxyl components, using this method only hydroxyl to participate in the reaction, epoxy failed to react.

The carboxyl group of the acidic resin is used to open the epoxy ring and then react with the isocyanate in the polyurethane adhesive. Epoxy resin can also be dissolved in ethyl acetate, add phosphoric acid heating reaction, the adduct is added to the polyurethane adhesive, can make the adhesive initial adhesion, heat resistance and hydrolysis stability are improved. Alcoholamines or amines can also be reacted to form polyols, and the presence of tertiary nitrogen atoms in the adduct can accelerate the NCO reaction.

Using epoxy resin as a multi-hydroxyl component combines the advantages of polyurethane and epoxy resin, and has good bonding strength and chemical resistance. The epoxy resin used in the manufacture of polyurethane adhesive is generally EP-12, EP-13, EP-16 and EP-20.
